Zoey James Towner is a transgender writer/director from San Diego, California. As a queer woman, Zoey is most interested in stories about characters in the process of cementing their identities. She finds that life is often funniest at its most tragic and has always thought that fantasy made a lot more sense than reality. As such, she writes wild genre-bending stories that combine comedy and tragedy usually with a healthy dose of action and violence. She has described her first script (Great American Highway) as Lady Bird by way of The Ring, and her second (Colette le Chanteuse) as Some Like It Hot meets Inglourious Basterds. She's weird like that.
